PIANO LESSONS FOR
CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE
Impromptu provides UK-wide live online piano lessons using Zoom. The course is designed especially for children and young people.
“Impromptu” is a style of classical music. It is a special form where the performer can be creative and add in their own elements within the context of the piece. We aim to bring in the joy of music to children's lives.
Other than teaching basic piano techniques, we also include music composition. Your child will be able to create their own piano pieces, improvise music and sing-along to songs.
HOW TO START YOUR ONLINE
PIANO LESSONS
STEP 1
Choose a tutor and book a FREE 20 mins trial lesson (one-to-one lesson).
We will contact you by email or phone if your chosen tutor is not available at your chosen lesson time.

You will receive your class room zoom link by email once the tutor has confirmed the lesson.

STEP 2
Before the trial lesson, prepare:

Toy piano/electric piano/acoustic piano

Ideally 2 cameras set up (from PC/iPad/phone). One from overhead showing the keyboard and fingers, and one showing the face of students.

Music scores and teaching materials: Our tutors will send you a digital copy of music scores and teaching materials.
STEP 4
Purchase lessons (if you wish to continue after your free trial) and start your piano lessons!
COURSE STRUCTURE
Our programme is designed especially for children and young people. Lessons combine activity-based learning and traditional music conservatoire teaching methods.
TRADITIONAL PIANO TECHNIQUES AND MUSIC THEORY
To attain levels in accordance with the ABRSM Grades and participation in piano competitions.
MUSIC IMPROVISATION
Even children can freely play their favourite music by ear, without reading music!
SING ALONG
Training hand-eye coordination and multitasking!
MUSIC COMPOSITION
Stimulating your child's creativity! A 3-year-old child will be able to compose their own song!

To ensure our quality of teaching, the monitoring committee will be
involved in teaching occasionally, monitoring the progress of individual students.
Other group activities
Students will be performing, attending mini-concerts and competitions through Zoom. There will also be discussions and piano games, where students can learn from each other.
Our tutors
Our tutors are all experienced and have music conservatoire background. All are passionate about working with children and are well trained in using the Impromptu teaching methods.
Our Lessons
Impromptu lessons are great fun for kids. Instead of only reading and playing from the score, which can be very boring for children, we use different games to build up and consolidate basic piano techniques and musical sense.

MISSION OF IMPROMPTU MUSIC GROUP
We aim to light the spark and nurture the interest of music in young children. Our founder, Christy, graduated from London Trinity College of Music, majoring in piano performance. After graduation she focused on combining activity-based learning and music conservatoire methods of piano training, to ensure children learn quickly and effectively.
