Georgios Vardakis

GEORGIOS VARDAKIS

Master of Music Performance (Piano)

For the last six years, I have been working in various educational settings. I have been teaching the piano on a one-to-one basis and I am also working with the Fireworks music school the last three years, the East London Piano school the previous year and currently, I am working at Royal Hill music Academy. These years I have been preparing students for the ABRSM exams and have all passed successfully. In total, I have worked with more than 100 students the last three years. I believe that before everything, especially in music, one should develop the mind, the way of thinking and understanding and then the mechanical skills of the body. That is why my work focuses on improvisation, composition and analysis through which students can fully understand the pianistic repertoire and technique. During my studies in the University of Athens, I was involved in projects in primary schools by teaching music in groups, using state-of-the- art technology. Additionally, during my studies at Trinity Laban I have been involved in projects in prisons with Finding Rhythms (Thameside Prison). Through my experience of working in schools in the UK I have also gained good knowledge of safeguarding, health and safety issues.
As a performer, I have performed throughout Greece, and the UK. I have worked as an accompanist and have won prizes in music competitions. I have attended masterclasses with nominated pianists such us Pascal Roge and Jonathan Plowright and have performed with ensembles and as a soloist in venues such as St James’s Piccadilly, Megaron Mousikis and more. In addition, I had been awarded with two scholarships for being highly committed to music and my studies, as well as having great progress. My future concerts include a tour of 32 concerts around the UK with a violinist as well as 5 solo piano recitals until the end of next year.
